It was my pleasure this summer to discover a lovely shop called Ship Song on the other side of I-5 from the University District in Seattle... would that be Greenlake or Wallingford? I am still learning the many neighborhoods here. I was having lunch with a friend at the nearby The Butcher & The Baker when I spotted a small clothing rack outside the store. I don't know about you, but I am a sucker for a rolling rack on the sidewalk! I went to take a peek. What a great shop! I discovered many unique vintage items, including a pair of men's high waist "Movin On" Levi's from the 1980's with tags still on, which I bought once I realized they are a perfect fit. Men's jeans? Really?!
The shop's owner, Victoria Simons, also has her own line of clothing. When I spotted a terrific blanket coat in my colors, which Victoria made from 1960's wool fabric given to her by her mother, I knew I had to have it. Victoria also crafts beautiful bustiers in a variety of fabrics that pair very well with the many high-waist jeans and skirts now trending. The shop has been closed for the summer, but I hope it will re-open soon so you can take a look for yourself!
