The Seattle Art Museum just closed this beautiful exhibit showcasing a legendary fashion design career that spanned 44 years. Showing promise and great talent from a very early age, it is still astonishing to imagine a young man in his early 20’s at the helm of one of the largest and most storied fashion houses in history (Dior). Then, when he was a mere 26 years old, Saint Laurent started his own house, which has been known worldwide since its inception and is now known simply as Saint Laurent.
Saint Laurent stood for women being free to be themselves, giving them command of their wardrobes, to choose what works, mixing pieces in their own way. He did not wish to dictate to women how they should look. To this, I say bravo and amen.
Fashion designers like Saint Laurent allow women to be expressive, creative and have fun with fashion because, after all, fashion is supposed to be fun! I will leave it right there and let the photographs do the talking.
Enjoy and thank you for stopping by! All photos are my own.
