I know I’m late to the Glossier party! But I have arrived and I’m loving it. For those unfamiliar with Glossier, it started as a beauty blog website Into the Gloss in 2010. Into the Gloss is still an active blog where they discuss products, careers and what beauty means to women today. In 2014, Glossier was launched as a modern beauty brand creating products inspired by the people who use them.
After months of “thinking about it,” I recently pulled the trigger and received a box full of fantastic products. Can I say how happy the soft pink of their packaging and bottles makes me? It totally takes me back to the 80’s when my mom sold Mary Kay Cosmetics. I’m glad Mary Kay no longer has a corner on this color.
Without further delay, here’s what I bought and my thoughts on each.
Body Hero Daily Oil Wash
I had just run out of my Fresh shower gel, so the daily oil wash came just in time. This, like all Glossier products, has a very light fragrance. I can be sensitive to fragrance, but this one is not strong. I promise. The website describes it as Orange Blossom Neroli Blend (a subtle baby fresh scent). This seven-oil blend turns to a slightly soapy texture when you add water. It is skin-softening and not drying. This will be perfect for dry winter skin. Thumbs up! Buy it here.
Hand Cream
This hand cream is magical. It is not greasy and it absorbs quickly. My two favorite hand creams have been Kiehl’s and Aveda, but this one beats them both. Once again, the fragrance is fresh and clean, not a strong scent. I’m sold! Get it here.
Milky Jelly Cleanser
This is a gel cleanser that uses Poloxamer, the same cleansing agent used in contact lens solution. So, it is safe for your eyes and it won’t sting when you remove mascara. I find a second application is needed to remove all of my eye makeup, but overall, this is a great softening cleanser. I lean toward using it in the morning when I’m not removing makeup. Get it here.
Futuredew
This is a lightweight oil/serum hybrid. When you want your skin to have a special glow, apply this product after all of your skincare steps but before your makeup. Or skip makeup and go natural. This feels light on my skin, not greasy. It contains plant-based extracts that help brighten your skin over time. Apply this before going to a special event. With the holidays approaching, this is a great product to fake a healthy glow when you’re running low on energy. Get it here.
Perfecting Skin Tint
I am not a skin tint person. Anytime I see “lightweight coverage,” I need to pass. I am a medium-full coverage kind of gal. For those who love lightweight coverage, this is a wonderful skin tint. It feels amazing on the skin. It is moisturizing and minimizes the appearance of pores. Since I prefer more coverage, I use Susan Posnick’s ColorFlo over Glossier’s skin tint, and it’s perfect. I’m wearing this combo in the photo on this post. It comes in 12 shades. Get it here.
Stretch Concealer
This concealer is buildable and super creamy. It goes on smoothly. That said, be careful with your mascara if you wear mascara on your bottom lashes. When I applied this concealer under my entire eye area, I notice my mascara depositing under my eyes. Now, I lightly apply the concealer only where I have darkness. Then, I cover it with powder to set it. I love this concealer. It comes in 12 shades. Get it here.
Wowder
If you like to set your makeup with powder, this is a brilliant product. It does not leave you looking matte or chalky. It cuts down on shine and minimizes the appearance of pores. But somehow you still have a wonderful glow. I am a big fan. It comes in five shades. Get it here.
Cloud Paint
This is a gel cream blush that goes on sheer after the first application. Don’t be scared by the bright color initially. It blends! You can build it to your desired depth. I apply this after my foundation but before I set my face with Wowder. Use the Wowder to blend away extra blush pigment, if needed. I purchased the beam, which is a soft peach. It comes in eight shades. Get a duo of colors here. I recommend a bright, lighter color for daytime and deeper color for evening.
Ultralip
It’s a balm, a lip gloss and a buildable lip tint rolled into one product. I love the sheer look, which is perfect for early fall. After a year of hiding behind a mask, it feels like a real treat for my lips. It is super moisturizing and soft. I got Vesper, a rich fuchsia. I’m wearing it in the photo in this post. It comes in nine gorgeous shades. Buy it here.
Other products
A few other products I’ve read favorable reviews of but have not yet tried are the balm dotcom (a do everything lip balm), lash slick mascara, body hero daily perfecting cream, haloscope and brow flick.
A Few Sets
To save a little on multiple products, I recommend these sets: The Makeup Set, Milky Jelly Cleanser + Futuredew, Wowder Duo (powder + brush), Body Hero Duo (oil wash & body lotion) and The Makeup Set on Vacation.
