Depending on your location in the northern hemisphere, spring is just beginning to bud, full-blown or waning. In any case, it’s time to move those fall/winter clothes to the back of the closet and bring forth our spring wardrobe.
Top Spring Colors
To provide inspiration for the dog days of summer ahead, behold our top spring color trends. From the brightest brights to the softest pastels, there’s something for everyone this season. Sometimes when we see a palette like this, it’s difficult to know what works well together. Let’s discuss.
Playing in the Color Palette
For a soft, earthy connection, try Tender Peach, Leek Green and Mocha Mousse (all Pantone names). The colors (as shown above) look like the start of spring, and they work very well together, especially the peach and green, which play a little bit like color compliments. You can find the items in this image in my Spring Refresh catalog.
As I have recommended before, try softer colors with your bright tones to allow the bright color to pop. The soft green and blue here are supporting players while the flats are the star. See my Spring Refresh catalog for these items for purchase. These colors are Blue Perennial, Grayed Jade and Blazing Yellow.
Mixing blues and greens in a variety of depths and intensities is fresh and exciting. The green sneaker is the color pop while the blues pair well and sing backup. Have you embraced sneakers with a dress yet? I’m still working on it. These colors are Bluing, Skylight and Andean Toucan.
Lastly, try a bright warm color with softer warm tones. These orange flats are stellar with this warm-toned dress. These colors are Tangelo, Vanilla Cream2, Leek Green and Macchiato2.
As explained on Pantone’s website about Spring 2023 colors, this palette encourages “us to express ourselves in unexpected ways.” These extreme color contrasts invite us to play, while the core classic colors keep everything grounded.
The Colors I’m Wearing
In the photo at the top of this post, I’m sporting two fabulous colors from the Pantone spring 2023 palette, Fiery Red and Iced Mango2. Don’t be afraid to show up in color. Not sure of your best colors? Contact me about getting your own custom color analysis.
Top Spring Trends
In no particular order:
Top prints are big florals, stripes, artsy/digital prints and tie dye.
The 90’s continue with baggy jeans, slip dresses, oversized sweaters and sportswear.
Popular fabrics include leather, chiffon, denim and knits, especially crochet and other crafty textures.
There were gobs of metallics, sequins and shimmer. Keep the party vibe going all year long.
Tops remain on the shorter side (i.e. cropped) while pants are a variety of rises from low to mid to high-rise.
We are still seeing a lot of “utility” jackets, tops and pants, along with oversized suit separates.
Lastly, we are seeing a return of the big bag and the ladylike pump.
The Season’s Overall Theme
You can approach the season one of two ways, either stock up on wardrobe fundamentals or go hog wild with maximalism. In my opinion, why not do both?
What I’m Loving
You’ll find some of the favorite things I’ve seen so far in my Spring Refresh catalog, including all the items in these collages. Don’t forget to see the Lookbook section of the catalog for ways I’ve styled the pieces together. Note: Some, though not all, of the links are affiliated meaning I receive a small commission when you purchase directly from the links. This is always appreciated and one way of supporting my small business.
