The Hallmark of Great Style

February 24, 2016 by Bethany Siggins

womanromantic - The Hallmark of Great Style

It has been said that fashion is what you buy in the store and style is what you do with it.  Each person has her unique interpretation of what she purchases.  But what separates the nice dresser from the amazing dresser?  I’ll tell you what it is: attitude.

A woman with great style has a wardrobe that celebrates the woman she is today, regardless of her weight or her shape.  She may not love everything about her construction, but she accepts herself just the same.  One cannot be confident and stylish without self-acceptance.

A woman with great style never says, “I’ll shop for new things when I lose 10 lbs.” That type of self-punishment is defeating and baseless. She knows she is an amazing, unique work of art, and she acknowledges that she deserves to have beautiful things she loves right now.

A woman with great style does not keep pieces that do not work into her lifestyle.  She may adore a sparkly handbag at the shop, but if she does not imagine a suitable occasion for it, she does not buy it.  And, she does not allow pieces to occupy space in her wardrobe that remind her of the woman she was.  A woman with great style is forward-looking, not backward glancing.

With self-acceptance comes a shift in your attitude. A shift in your style follows suit. So, let’s start celebrating ourselves, shall we? That is where great style begins!—Bethany Siggins

I’ll Have What She’s Having

January 5, 2013 by Bethany Siggins

day dream - I'll Have What She's HavingAlas, we are rarely happy with our lot in life.  Never has this been more evident to me as when I observed my now two-year old twins as babies looking to see what the other one had, wishing to trade for the other’s toy.  It is true a certain amount of discontent keeps us moving forward, striving to better ourselves and our lives.  However, a bit too much malaise breeds a deeper, unfounded depression.  When a reporter asked John D. Rockefeller, “How much money is enough?” Mr. Rockefeller, America’s first billionaire (and still considered the richest man in modern history) replied, “Just a little bit more.”

So, don’t look around at others and think to yourself, if my hair were as thick as hers, if my hips were as slim as hers, if I drove her car or had her shoes, I’d be happy.  No, you wouldn’t.  You’d find something else to wish for.  My challenge to you in this New Year is to look at all that you do have, open your eyes to your enormous privilege, freedom and comfort.  I want you to see the beautiful things about yourself, focus on the good and push aside those negative thoughts that creep in telling you that you are not good enough or that you don’t have enough.  You were designed exactly as you are on purpose.  You were purposefully designed to serve certain people in your own special way with your God-given talents.  To wish to be different is to boldly tell God He made a mistake, which He certainly never does.

If you need help seeing yourself in the positive way others see you, call me.  I consider it a privilege and an honor to show others how fabulous they truly are.  Happy New Year!

Queen for a Day

April 14, 2010 by Bethany Siggins

birthday - Queen for a DayToday is my birthday.  I’m telling you this not to dig a birthday wish out of you but rather to share my plans for the day with the hope you will treat yourself to a day of leisure, as well.  I won’t bore you with every detail of my day, but suffice to say it involves lunch, spa and dinner.  In other words, little work and lots of play!

So, what’s the point of this post and how is it relevant to your style?

People with great style accept themselves ‘as is.’  As a result of this healthy attitude, they are apt to take better care of themselves.  This, in turn, helps them look better and feel better.  It is a circle that continually feeds itself: acceptance, care, beauty, health.

In my quest to help you find your signature style, it would be remiss of me not to make a strong point of you taking great care of yourself.  Taking time out just for you in passionate pursuits or even just brief moments of solitude have a strong impact on your happiness, your image and your style.

Don’t get lost in the shuffle and forget who you are and what you need.  Stay focused and grounded, never losing sight of yourself.  Your kids, your partner, your loved ones and your friends will be thankful to have a positive presence in their lives – YOU!  Don’t forget you.  You are too important.
