Wardrobe Edit Inspired by Project 333

May 7, 2021 by Bethany Siggins

What is Project 333?

If you’ve not heard of Project 333, here’s the premise: Wear 33 pieces of clothing (including jewelry, shoes and bags) for 3 months. Pack the rest of your wardrobe out of sight. I don’t know about you, but that kind of frightens me.

Who created it and why?

Project 333 was created by Courtney Carver. Courtney had developed a habit of buying to feel better and to show others she was accomplished during a high-pressure period of her life. She was worn out and in debt, and, eventually, she fell seriously ill. It was from that place of debilitation, Courtney realized she had to make serious and drastic changes. Project 333 was born. Eventually, she wrote a book, and my husband gave it to me for Christmas.

Are 33 pieces enough?

Yes, 33 pieces are more than enough to create many outfits for a 3-month period. As long as your pieces work together, you can interchange tops, bottoms, accessories and jackets to create a variety of outfits, much more than 90 outfits, in fact. We call this a wardrobe capsule in my business.

My Favorite Takeaways

Clothing and buying more are not fixes for other things going on in your life. I have been there and done that. When we were new to Seattle, I spent my downtime shopping at local Goodwill and resale stores. I didn’t need more. I was simply decompressing from the stress. However, I came away from our time in Seattle with quite a few resale treasures that I still own. I love them, and I’m glad I have them. Be careful as you shop. The best policy is to buy the piece if it truly fills a void in your closet, rather than a void in your life.

Refuse to live in fear of not having enough. I have clients who have survived traumas. One common thread is their wardrobes have far more pieces than they could ever wear. They have enough, but they continue to buy from a place of fear. They think the new thing will help them feel better or feel more secure. One more thing is not the answer. Walk away from it and spend time doing something else that nourishes you. You have enough.

Adopt a “one is enough” philosophy wherever you can. This works with your wardrobe, but it works in many other areas, too. Have you ever known someone who always has multiples of things? 80 rolls of toilet paper in the garage, 10 candles in the bathroom cabinet, etc. A lot of older baby boomers do this, likely stemming from not having enough post WWII. I am guilty of this in my closet: 15 pairs of jeans, 15 graphic tees, 20 jackets, etc. Hey, I love fashion. Sue me! I’m not very good at “one is enough,” obviously. Here’s the thing about “one is enough.” It is. If the piece you have is dirty, you’ll wear something else. You’ll buy another one if something happens to it. You don’t need a backup, especially if you don’t love it as much as your #1.

“Just in case” means never most of the time. I’m guilty of this, too. I never go to black tie events, but maybe I will one day. So, I have a lovely long dress I’ve held onto for two years “just in case.” Many of my clients hold onto a black dress for funerals. Newsflash, no one wears black to funerals anymore. How many funerals do you attend and how often? If “almost none” and “almost never” are your answers, let go of the black dress. On the occasion of a funeral, I bet you have a non-black dress or a blouse and a skirt you can wear. If not, you can buy it when you need it.

Am I doing Project 333?

No. However, all of the above spoke to me. In fact, it inspired me to empty a bag full of clothing from my dresser drawers and closet (including the two pieces below). My wardrobe was already well-edited, mind you. As someone who works in fashion and dresses to express my personality and style, a 33-piece capsule would feel boring and stifling, just as Courtney’s overstuffed closet stifled her. But I do have favorites I wear many times over other things.

Admittedly, since removing the pieces from my closet, it has been easier to get dressed. I can better see the pieces I love to wear. Sometimes we can’t see a piece even when we are looking at it because there are too many things around it demanding attention. I feel lighter letting go of pieces I think I should be wearing, but I’m not. It’s a mental lift. I recently cleared the Safari cache on my phone and “lost” oodles of tabs I had open: articles I planned to read “one day,” products to look into, etc. It’s fine. I’ll live. Now, my phone feels lighter!

Your Assignment

You don’t have to do Project 333 either unless it speaks to you. However, I would love for you to take something from this post and apply it. Clear out some “just in case” pieces and subpar back ups. You don’t have to donate them yet. Just see if you can live without them for a while. If you miss something, go get it. If you never miss them, donate them. There’s a lot of need for your extras in our communities.

A Gentle Reminder

Books like Project 333 remind us that we do not need as much as we think we do. Further, we do not have to hold onto things until they are worn out or threadbare (guilty). My wish for your closet is for you to see a “celebration” of the woman you are today, not the woman you were 10 years ago or the woman you hope to be in 10 lbs.

Don’t be confident in what you wear. Be confident in who you are.

Summer Style Over 40

April 7, 2021 by Bethany Siggins

My Dilemma

I noticed it a handful of years ago. I could not find a pair of shorts that fell past upper thigh. Everything was short, short, short. I thought it was a passing thing, and I told myself next summer would be easier. Nope. All the shorts were short, short, short. So, I began to default to dresses and skirts for summertime with a few pairs of chinos sprinkled in. Shorts were for around the house only.

Recently, a friend of mine and I were lamenting the problem of the “too short” shorts, and she said I should create a catalog of pieces for women over 40. So, I did!

Your Shopping Catalog

Click here to shop the catalog. Not only does my catalog contain shorts in a variety of lengths from 5 – 9,” I also include tops, pants, skirts, dresses, sandals and sneakers to give you a well-rounded selection.

Most of the pieces in this catalog are relaxed and casual. However, many of them can be dressed up with a cute jacket or the right shoe and accessories. Message me if I can help you decide which of these pieces are right for you. I can do a personalized shop for you, too.

Guidelines for Over 40 Summer Style

As you know, I’m not much for rules. However, a few general style guidelines are helpful. Determining what is “age appropriate” is difficult to pin down. As I’ve discussed over the years, it depends on the person. What works for one may not work for another for a variety of reasons. It mostly comes down to what works well on your body and how you feel when you wear it. If it feels too young, it is. Donate it.

Here are my guidelines for summer style over 40.

Simplify the Look

Often, the fussier the piece, the more youthful it appears. This includes ties, zippers, ribbons, appliqués, ruffles and flounces. However, there is always a way to wear things you love. When wearing a “youthful” piece, keep the rest of your outfit streamlined and classic.

Longer is Classy

This goes for shorts, dresses and skirts. For skirts and dresses, just under the knee length is a flattering place to stop. The nice thing about this length is you don’t have to worry how high it rises when you sit down. It will fall just above your knee when you sit, which is perfect. Choosing the right length for shorts depends on your height and proportions. Generally, try to keep shorts to a length of 5” or longer. Longer shorts can be hemmed to the right length for you. Better to buy too long and get them altered than to buy too short.

Wear Flattering Colors

The colors you wear over 40 are especially important as our body colors begin to soften with age. While it was once easy to experiment with all the colors of the rainbow, find colors that make you look vibrant and energized. If your default is black, try navy. Add color pops to your neutrals.

If you are unsure about your most flattering colors, I can do a custom color analysis for you. Your custom color fan is one-of-a-kind, and it’s a helpful shopping tool and a great companion at the makeup counter, too. Contact me to get your color fan!

Play in Accessories

Accessories do a great job telling your story. They are your personality pieces. Be thoughtful about your choices, and invest well here. If accessories have been an afterthought, put focus here this season. A great shoe/sandal, a nice handbag and well-chosen jewelry take your look to the next level.

I’m Here to Help

If you are not sure what to buy this season, message me. Together, we will edit your wardrobe and make sure the pieces you buy are the ones you truly need.

Have fun shopping the catalog, and let me know what you buy!

Note: Some, though not all, of the links in the catalog are with affiliated retailers, who pay me a small commission for your purchases. This is always appreciated!

Your Best Holiday Style

December 2, 2020 by Bethany Siggins

It’s hard to believe it’s December! With everything this year has thrown at us, my final blog post of 2020 is focused on uplifting, holiday style. Naturally, I envision sequins, glitter and sparkles when I think of holiday outfits. However, in case sparkle isn’t “you,” the outfits I’ve created here are balanced with comfort in mind. After all, a little bit of sparkle goes a long way, and comfort is at the top of everyone’s list when it comes to 2020 style!

Outfit #1 – All Dressed Up
parke blazer in velvet - Your Best Holiday Style
AT Blk suede pumps - Your Best Holiday Style
Spanxperfect black pant sequin tuxedo - Your Best Holiday Style
sequined tank - Your Best Holiday Style

I’m calling this the “2020 tuxedo.” The blazer is the Parke Blazer by J.Crew I recommended in my previous blog post. It comes in a variety of colors, although the black is chic and would be great with jeans and a white blouse. The low heel suede pumps are by Ann Taylor. The pants are by Spanx. I bought the Spanx perfect black pant this year and love them. The sparkle tuxedo stripe is a nice touch. Try them with a simple sweater to dress them down. Lastly, the tank is from Macy’s. The black sequin tank top in my closet is so old, the retailer is no longer in business! If you like a halter style, try this one.

Outfit #2 – Dressed Up & Down
sequined joggers - Your Best Holiday Style
ATcashmere turtleneck - Your Best Holiday Style
AdidasSparkle - Your Best Holiday Style

I call this outfit “holiday style at home.” I’ve been living in my joggers! How about a sequin pair for the holidays? Two other styles I’m liking are the Elements sequin jogger by Eloquii and the Commando sequin legging. Keep the look low-key with a simple black turtleneck by Ann Taylor. There’s another one by Land’s End that comes in a variety of colors. Lastly, a simple sparkle tennis shoe by Adidas for your errands because why not?

Outfit #3 – Sultry Holiday
h m sequined blouse black - Your Best Holiday Style
Spanx black pencil skirt - Your Best Holiday Style
kate spade valerie pumps - Your Best Holiday Style

If you don’t already have a black pencil skirt, this one by Spanx would be a great addition as a wardrobe staple. Spanx also makes a faux leather version. I also like these two belted styles, one by Club Monaco and one by Blank NYC available at Nordstrom. All that’s needed to take a black pencil skirt into holiday territory is a pretty blouse and heels. Sparkles aren’t required, but of course this outfit includes them. This long-sleeved sequin blouse is by H&M. It’s perfectly slouchy with casual trousers, but tuck it into the skirt. This cropped silver sequin blouse is standout, and I’ve had a mad crush for years on these Kate Spade glitter pumps.

Outfit #4 – House Party
ATshimmer cropped cardi - Your Best Holiday Style
leather like jogger - Your Best Holiday Style

I recommended these two pieces in previous blog posts, and they’re perfect to mention again. This cropped sparkle cardi by Ann Taylor would be adorable with a simple faux leather jogger. Finish the outfit with either a fun, comfy sneaker or bring it up a notch with a glitter block heel sandal that’s nearly a dead ringer for mine (except mine is gold).

The Finishing Touches
champagne earrings - Your Best Holiday Style
KateSpade cuff bracelet - Your Best Holiday Style
swarovski tennis hoops - Your Best Holiday Style
Swarovski tassel drop earrings - Your Best Holiday Style
swarovski rose gold studs - Your Best Holiday Style
slake bracelet 1 - Your Best Holiday Style

To me, an outfit is not complete without accessories, especially at the holidays! Starting at the top left, these champagne bottle earrings caught my eye several weeks ago, and I can’t stop thinking about them! I love this elegant cuff bracelet by Kate Spade. On the second row, the Swarovski hoops are great for holiday or any time of year. The dangle tassel earrings are festive, and the studs set in rose gold add just enough sparkle. Lastly, the Swarovski slake wrap bracelet has long been a favorite of mine. It makes a great gift for special friends.

Forward to Santa

If you spy something you love, give Santa a little help by sending this blog post to him with a list of your favorites. Want to see more options? E-mail me to discuss your own personalized shop. It’s not too late!

Thank you for a great 2020!

This hasn’t been the year of our dreams by a long shot, but I’m thankful to all of you for your continued support. From reading my blog posts to listening to my podcasts and watching my videos, it means a lot. Thank you. Speaking of videos, I recently created a YouTube channel! Find it here and be sure to subscribe!

From my home to yours, I hope your holiday season is relaxing, beautiful and sparkly.

Shop My Closet

November 18, 2020 by Bethany Siggins

Bethany, where can I get that?

Since July, I have been creating videos from inside my closet. Since some of you have expressed interest in pieces I have used in my videos, I am linking similar items below! I shop a lot of resale and hold onto my clothing for 4-5 years on average. For that reason, I can’t link exact pieces in most cases. Happy Browsing!

The Animal Print Blazer
LeopardBlazer - Shop My Closet

This blazer by Ann Taylor is similar to mine, though it has a light background. I love it for its versatility. It is not a serious blazer, but because it is a classic cut it does not stand out in a crazy way. My favorite way to style it is shown here. You could also wear it over a work dress or over a slinky dress and heels for evening. I enjoy styling leopard print with a bright color like cobalt blue or hot pink.

Once upon a time I had a gray-toned leopard top coat that I wore the heck out of. This one by Banana Republic is almost its twin! I am sorely tempted.

SequinCardi 804x1024 - Shop My Closet
The Sequin Cardi

This cardi available at Yoox is a cardi coat, whereas mine is short. The beauty of the cardi coat is it can be dressed up or down. Wear a cardi coat open. Style it over a top and pants or jeans or over a sweater dress. For a shorter sequin cardi, try this one.

A few non-sequin options: this velvet kimono (the printed one), this black/white leopard long cardi or this shimmer cropped one.

The Preppy Blazer
PlaidBlazer2 840x1024 - Shop My Closet

My blazer is navy with red under the collar, but this plaid one from Macy’s is way cuter! It also has red under the collar. The great thing about this plaid is it doesn’t look “holiday,” so you can wear it all winter. The photo does not show the buttons well, but they can be easily changed out to your taste. If you like navy, this one by Lauren Ralph Lauren is similar to mine. Ralph Lauren is the king of sharp blazers.

LeopardJacket - Shop My Closet
Sporty Leopard Jacket

Mine is t-shirt material, but this one by Nic+Zoe is a bit thicker. For this reason, it could be worn farther into the fall season and it looks a bit dressier. This one from Amazon is a knit like mine, and I love that it goes up to size 3X! While we are talking sporty, I love this thicker jacket by Athleta. It would take your weekend look up a notch!

The Statement Blazer
PinkBlazer 1 - Shop My Closet

I’ve shown you a tuxedo-style blazer from my closet, as well as a bright pink corduroy blazer. One I’ve not yet shown you is my soft pink velvet blazer from J. Crew. This year, it comes in four colors. I love the bright pink one! It’s a similar color to my corduroy blazer. To give it a dressier look, change the tortoise buttons to gold. That’s what I did!

FairIsleSweater 1 - Shop My Closet
The Fun Cardi

As I have mentioned in videos, a plain cardigan can be… well, kind of plain. Even in a bright color, a solid-colored cardi lacks pizazz. One of my favorite acquisitions last year was a colorful striped and sequin cardi by Marc by Marc Jacobs. The colorful Boden cardi here has the same fun factor! While you’re at it, get one for your dog! Just for grins, check out this wild one by Stella McCartney. This orange and gray animal print cardi is also spendy but darling.

Links to My Outfit
MePinkBlazer 768x1024 - Shop My Closet

For once, I’m wearing pieces you can buy! The Parke Blazer from J. Crew, already linked above, and the zebra sweater from Banana Republic. My platform sneakers are Marc Fisher and no longer available. However, Sam Edelman has a great one! For the faux leather bottoms, I have two suggestions, either the Commando Perfect Control legging (runs small and fits tight to the leg) or the Spanx leather-like jogger, which fits looser on the leg. The ones I’m wearing here fit more like a jogger and are from J. Crew Factory.

Bethany’s Outfit Formula

As I’ve shared numerous times, an outfit is created using three pieces:

(1) a basic, (2) an interest piece and (3) a “completer” piece.

See this video for a demonstration on how to create outfits. As you can see, I often lean on jackets and blazers. I think they are cool and an easy way to transform a simple top and jeans. In a follow-up video, I showed how to change the vibe of an outfit using jackets. To see any of my videos on YouTube, go here.

Don’t Wait to Buy

Retailers are now carrying less inventory, which leads to less waste (a great thing). However, that means if you love something here, get it now. Waiting might backfire as pieces are selling out quickly.

Please let me know what you buy! If you’d like a personalized online shop for yourself or a loved one, shoot me an e-mail. The holidays are stressful enough without having to think about what to buy and where to find it.

Wishing you and yours a restful, healthy and stylish Thanksgiving!

The Wardrobe Edit – Tending your Garden

July 28, 2020 by Bethany Siggins

daisies - The Wardrobe Edit - Tending your Garden

In the early spring, a landscape designer visited my home to discuss a project. As she was leaving, she bent over the flower bed and began breaking off pansy blooms, much to my horror. She explained she was deadheading the pansies, and this would encourage growth and more blooms. I was skeptical, but I deferred to her expertise.

For those who don’t know deadheading, as I didn’t, removing the faded or dead flowers from a plant channels its energy into the new flowers that are blooming. Low and behold, after I fertilized the plants, deadheaded the blooms and watered, I had a gorgeous, enviable bed full of yellow blooms about two weeks later. I did not have an immediate result, but it was worth the wait to see the explosion of color!

IMG 8050 1024x683 - The Wardrobe Edit - Tending your Garden

Reasons to Let Go

Editing a wardrobe is similar to deadheading. After the landscape designer left, I wondered if my clients felt as I had watching the blooms removed from the pansies. As I work through a client’s wardrobe, I suggest removal of items that no longer serve the client. The reasons vary, but they are always compelling: (1) it no longer fits, (2) it is not a good color or shape for the client, (3) it is worn out, (4) it is out of style or (5) it is no longer relevant to the client’s life or lifestyle.

When a client lets go of unneeded pieces, there is space for new items which reflect their style and lifestyle today. Tend to your wardrobe as you would a garden. Once we plant shrubs, flowers and other landscaping, we pull weeds and prune to keep it looking great. Your wardrobe is no different. It blooms best when you give it room to grow. Then, be patient. Developing the wardrobe of your dreams takes time just as a garden needs time to reach its full potential.

Letting Go is a Process

Letting go is always easier said than done. We hold onto pieces for various reasons, including a fond memory it evokes. For years, I held onto a pair of mules I was wearing the night I met John, who is now my husband. I no longer wore the shoes, but I wanted to remember that night by keeping them. Finally, one day I said to myself, “I got the guy. I don’t need the shoes.” And that was that. I donated the shoes.

The “letting go” moment must happen naturally. Give yourself space and time. Loosen your grip on it and ask yourself why you want to keep it. A few paragraphs above, I wrote I “suggest removal” of pieces from a client’s wardrobe. I don’t come in with trash bags. I make the suggestion, and the client decides if the piece stays or goes.

BlackDress 1024x651 - The Wardrobe Edit - Tending your Garden

Keepsakes are Special

Keepsakes are in a different category. They might be things you wore during an important or special time in your life. If room allows, keepsakes go in a separate closet or in a box under the bed. Confession: I have my cheerleading uniform from junior high and the sweater I wore in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, along with a few pieces of my children’s clothing when they were little. It’s fun to look at them on occasion, and it’s nice to have a few pieces from your wardrobe history.

That was Then. This is Now.

Many are editing their wardrobes (and their entire homes) since the pandemic began. It is therapeutic. Removing the extra creates an environment where we can breathe easier. Too much stuff is stifling. We are realizing we need much less than we own.

Our lives are different right now. From a wardrobe standpoint, all we need is a great Zoom shirt and a comfortable pair of pants! Look at your wardrobe and ask yourself if you love everything there. Be brutal about what must go, and be highly selective about what you allow in.

Questions to Ask Yourself

Look at your wardrobe and be honest. Does each piece represent who you are today? Do you feel good wearing it? Does it fit properly? Would you buy it again if you saw it in a resale shop?

Getting More from Your Wardrobe

You are not losing anything when you decrease your options. In fact, fewer options gives you the opportunity to be more creative. In the end, a tidy wardrobe serves you better. A big reason we shop for a new outfit is we can’t see what’s right in front of us for all the things in the way.

A Look Back: 10 Years of Blogging

May 5, 2020 by Bethany Siggins

fullsizeoutput 9493 1024x683 - A Look Back: 10 Years of Blogging

On March 26, 2010, I published my first blog post, aptly titled “Hello, World!” One could have never have imagined what the 10-year anniversary of my blog would be like on March 26, 2020.

C.S. Lewis wrote: “The great thing, if one can, is to stop regarding all the unpleasant things as interruptions of one’s ‘own,’ or ‘real’ life. The truth is of course that what one calls the interruptions are precisely one’s real life.”

Thank you, Mr. Lewis, for this wisdom. Now that I’ve (somewhat) found my footing in this new, temporary reality, let’s take a journey through the last 10 years of the blog.

My First Post

When I published my first post, I knew very little about blogging, and blogging was still fairly new. What I did know was I enjoyed writing. With countless other blogs out there, I wanted my blog to stand out.

An excerpt: “I got into image consulting to help people and to make a positive impact in their lives. So, here’s what my blog is about: I want to educate you, empower you, and help you become more aware of yourself, your style and your imprint on this world. I want to give you REAL information that will raise your awareness about image, style and fashion, as well as increase your confidence in your own personal style.” Read the full post here.

Shoes are a Hot Topic

Several months into writing my blog, I published “Your Shoes – They Matter.” An excerpt: “Everyone owns shoes that are purposeful. We have gym shoes, work shoes, evening shoes, etcetera. However, do you own a pair that communicates who you are?” Read the full post here.

My First Year of Blogging

I was very active in the first nine months of my blog publishing a total of 30 posts! Apparently, I had a lot to say. Then, the blog posts abruptly stopped for a year. There was a good reason for that. I had twins at the end of 2010, two months early! The next 12-14 months were a blur of bottles, diapers and burp cloths.

I began writing my blog again in early 2012. One of those first posts is aptly named “Seeing Double.” The title of course was in reference to my twins, but the post also contains five tips to shop smarter and not get overwhelmed. Read the full post here.

Don’t Wait to Lose Weight

Later in 2012, I published a post titled “Shop Right Where You Are.” This post discusses shopping for nice things now rather than waiting until you are at your ideal weight. It is very common to hear a potential client say she would like to lose weight before she works with me. However, in this post I make the case for not waiting. There is a client success story within. Read the full post here.

Stand Out For Being Yourself

One of my favorite blog posts from 2013 was a short, sweet one called “Be a Red Tulip.” In short, I encourage you to be yourself and to embrace the things that make you stand out. Read the full post here.

2014, the Year of Education

I was doing a lot of public speaking in 2014. As a result, my blog posts reflect topics I was speaking about including career style, a balanced wardrobe and body language.

A Few Guest Bloggers

It’s hard to believe I’ve only had a few guest bloggers. My first guest blogger was Deborah King of Final Touch who discussed civility, something we all need in giant doses right now! This blog was posted about two months into the start of my blog. However, it is a great refresher for what is happening in our world right now. An excerpt: “Civility deals with how we view and treat others. It requires us to look beyond our own interests and look to the interests and well-being of others.” Read the full post here.

My second guest blogger, my dear friend Deborah Hill, wrote a blog post called “Pregnancy Chic” about five months into the start of my blog. An excerpt: “Dressing chic during pregnancy is very easy, actually. The key is to NOT dress like you’re pregnant. In other words, dress your normal style in an accommodating size.” Read the full post here.

Seven years later in August 2017, I welcomed my third guest blogger, my younger brother, Marsh Buice. He wrote “It’s Not You, It’s Your Metabolism.” An excerpt: “To metabolize our lives differently, we must transform from a life of emotional resistance to a life of emotional resilience.” Those are words to digest right now! Read the full post here.

Fashion, Fashion & More Fashion

I’ve seen several amazing exhibits featuring incredible fashion designers over the years. However, I have only featured a few on my blog. They are in order: Oscar de la Renta, Jeremy Scott and Christian Dior.

The Blog Goes to the Dark Side

After we moved to Seattle in early 2015, I began to write more serious pieces including a popular one titled “Why I Allowed My Daughter to Cut Her Hair.” An excerpt: “Vivien is free to express herself through her personal image. While I still play the role of her mother, protecting, guiding and teaching her, she can make image choices for herself.” Read the full post here.

I reflected on the forced pause the move created in a post titled “When Life Demands a Pause.” This is a great one to re-read as the world is in a forced pause of sorts. An excerpt: “How wonderful to enjoy more time with my beautiful, kind children during these sweet, young years. My business can always get a re-boot. Our kids are only young once.” Read the full post here.

My Most Popular Post

The blog post that remains the most read of all, “The Day I was Asked to Move,” recounts a painful, embarrassing day. However, a few great lessons came from it. Read the full post here.

Southern in Seattle is Born

As I was finding my footing in Seattle, I launched a new blog in February 2017 called Southern in Seattle. The purpose of this blog was to share things I loved of the South with my Seattle audience and to also highlight southern things I found in Seattle (mostly food!). We have been back in Dallas for almost two years, but I’ve held onto the blog name, as well as the Instagram profile. I’ve kept it because it is part of my story. I want to remember our time in Seattle in a fond way. This blog emerging from that time is a wonderful result. My favorite blog post I have ever written across both of my blogs is on Southern in Seattle. It is my love letter to New Orleans. Read it here.

A Recent Favorite

One of my favorite blog posts in the more recent past is “Whose Style is it Anyway?” An excerpt: “We won’t always understand or agree with the fashion choices around us. It isn’t our job to. Our job is to find our own style and to work it fearlessly.” Read the full post here.

Do You Believe in Miracles?

You don’t want to miss my miracle story in “Tales from the Tarmac – A Girl & Her Orange Suitcase.” Customer service is not dead. Read the full post here.

fullsizeoutput 9471 1024x856 - A Look Back: 10 Years of Blogging

Let’s Go for 10 More!

This blog has given me great joy over these last 10 years. It has allowed me to share encouraging words with you, my readers. It has helped me process my thoughts during difficulties, and it has kept me in touch with the good in others. While I started the blog for you, it has been a great help to me! I can’t imagine my life without it. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support. There is more to come!
